Tire Pressure Monitoring Turns Micro, Boosts Efficiency, Gains Traction

| February 3, 2015

TPMS

With increased use of tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS), the global automotive micro-electrical-mechanical systems market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 11 percent from 2014-2019.

One of the most important applications of MEMS in the automotive sector is in TPMS.  Evidence shows thatit helps improve both the safety of vehicles and their energy efficiency.

TPMS analyzes the pressure in the tires of a vehicle and warns the driver when the tires are not inflated sufficiently.  The need is clear: Under-inflated tires are more prone to blowouts and fuel wastage.

“TPMS are designed to manage the tire pressure of a vehicle irrespective of the temperature variations that influence said pressure,” says Faisal Ghaus, Vice President of TechNavio.
