Nissan and Georgia Power Partner to Boost Workplace Charging Stations

Nissan and George Power have announced a new partnership to make EV charging available at more workplaces in the Atlanta region.

Through a new partnership funded by Nissan and Georgia Power, local employers can receive a $1,000 rebate for each 240-volt, Level 2 charger installed – $500 from Georgia Power and a matching $500 from Nissan. Nissan’s matching contribution expands an existing Georgia Power EV charger rebate program for businesses that was introduced in 2014.

Atlanta is already America’s #1 market for the zero emission Nissan LEAF and #2 city in the country for overall EV adoption, trailing only San Francisco.

What’s more, recent studies have shown that sales of EV vehicles is driven by a number of key factors, one of the most prominent of which is the ready availability of convenient charging stations.

The Nissan matching rebate is available through June 30, 2015. To qualify, companies must have 100 or more employees and the facility must be in the Georgia Power service area.

“While most EV drivers plug in at home overnight, workplace charging enhances the LEAF ownership experience and expands the number of miles a LEAF driver can go on power produced here in Georgia,” said Brendan Jones, director, Electric Vehicle Sales and Infrastructure Deployment, Nissan.

“Our electric transportation program continues to demonstrate our commitment to delivering products and services that meet the changing needs of our customers,” said Mike Hazelton, senior vice president of marketing for Georgia Power.

Nissan has already worked with numerous companies and organizations in metro Atlanta to facilitate workplace charging, including Ponce City Market and Agnes Scott College. The automaker funded the installation of public fast chargers at key locations such as Atlantic Station, a site co-funded by Georgia Power, which is the most visited EV charge site in Georgia.
