New Solar-powered, Bluetooth Bike Share System from Republic Bike
Your fleet might not look exactly like this, but it might spur some new ideas. Republic Bike, known for its distinctly original custom bikes and programs, is launching an equally customizable, companion bike sharing solution that is solar-powered and bluetooth enabled.
Wow!
“Bike share is being popularized, in a municipal format, as an expected and enlightened transit utility. Now, with our program, the same functionality and amenity can be set up anywhere, by anyone, for a fraction of the cost,” says Republic Bike president, Avery Pack.
Republic Bike’s system employs solar powered, Bluetooth smart locks integrated with Republic’s custom fleet bicycles. Bikes are checked out with the rider’s smartphone on an app customized for each bike share.
Bikes are paired with docks that allow basic or complex bike share networks to be designed. Clusters of docks can be located anywhere there is available space, creating organized and predictable rental and return stations. Docks do not require wiring, connectivity or complicated infrastructure considerations, and can be added or relocated as systems grow and adapt.
“Each user’s smartphone bears a lot of the burden of the rental process – keeping the system nimble and affordable,” says Pack. “The user experience is fast and friendly – just walk up to a bike and rent it with your phone.”
Like the recognizable fleet bicycles manufactured by Republic Bike, the app is completely customizable: from the style to the ability to create flexible billing structures for free to fee-based systems with secure credit card processing – making revenue generating bike share simple to set up.
Republic Bike’s system enables local operators and businesses to set their own terms and run their own bike share programs for their own communities.
