Utility Fleets Turning to High-tech, Low Maintenance Vehicle Lifts
A new market analysis conducted by vehicle lift leader Stertil-Koni USA, Inc. in the first half of 2016 shows that utility fleets nationwide are increasingly selecting a broad range of heavy duty vehicle lifts that deliver a combination of high-tech control, low maintenance operations, with ongoing operator feedback to support the demanding service and repair operations found in maintenance shops across North America.
The trend was evident at a recent gathering of utility experts.
There, Alan Tye & Associates, an exclusive distributor for heavy duty vehicle lift leader Stertil-Koni, showcased one of the company’s latest innovations – an interactive control panel on a set of Stertil-Koni wireless mobile column lifts. Called the ebright Smart Control System, the technology consists of a full-color, seven-inch touch screen control console, much like today’s tablet computers, which puts all lifting information directly at the fingertips of the person who needs it most – the busy technician on the shop floor.
The ebright Smart Control System, in use at multiple facilities across North America, features
- Owner/user configurable options, including choice of language and personalized ID key to protect against unauthorized use;
- Presentation of all relevant information at a glance; and
- The ability to connect up to 32 mobile columns fully synchronized in a single set.
Utility fleets are also embracing the most recent innovations in fixed lifting systems, such as the Stertil-Koni DIAMOND LIFT. It comes in a two- or three-piston configuration, with a total lifting capacity in the new DIAMOND 70 of up to 35,000lbs. per piston, or 105,000 lbs. in the 3-piston version.
Noted Stertil-Koni president, Dr. Jean DellAmore, “These high performance telescopic piston lifts are ALI certified and electronically synchronized for maximum safety and convenience. What’s more, they are built with rugged, hard-chrome plated piston rods for maximum durability.”
The “frame” version of the DIAMOND LIFT is engineered for concrete foundations and ideal for replacement situations.Utilities are also taking a close look at the new frame version of the DIAMOND – ideal for concrete foundations and replacement situations.
“The DIAMOND LIFT with frame is a great retrofit solution, so the customer can use an existing pit and install a brand new telescopic piston lift – all with minimal construction,” added DellAmore.
