LightningElectric Gets Nod from NY Truck-Voucher Incentive Program
Lightning Systems, a global developer of efficiency and emissions improvement solutions for fleets, has announced that its new LightningElectric zero-emissions package for the Ford Transit 350HD has been approved for the New York Truck-Voucher Incentive Program (NYT-VIP).
In partnership with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), New York State Department of Transportation, New York City Department of Transportation and CALSTART, NYT-VIP provides $19 million in incentives for clean vehicle technologies. The goal of the program is to promote clean air and a sustainable future for New York’s transportation system by accelerating the integration of advanced vehicle technologies in the commercial truck and bus sectors.
“The New York Truck-Voucher Incentive Program covers up to 80 percent of the incremental cost of eligible clean vehicles such as our zero-emission Ford Transit,” said Tim Reeser, CEO of Lightning Systems. “Incentives like New York’s enable delivery and shuttle fleets to add cutting edge vehicles that will reduce or eliminate emissions at this critical time in the electric vehicle market.”
The LightningElectric battery conversion package is available for Ford Transit as part of Ford Motor Company’s eQVM program. The product is available on heavy-duty Transits with a 10,360-pound gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR). Installation and service are performed by Ford QVM partners and dealers.
Deliveries of the new LightningElectric begin in March. Vouchers and grants are available in a variety of regions like New York for zero-emissions vehicles.
Ford’s vehicle warranty covers the base chassis for vehicles with the LightningElectric upfit, and Ford Motor Credit financing is available.
Featuring a state-of-the-art, liquid-cooled Lithium-Ion battery system from a volume-ready world-class battery supplier, LightningElectric will accommodate full charging in less than thirty minutes for DC Fast Charging. LightningElectric has a payload capacity of up to 4,000 pounds, depending on battery option and drive cycle.
Lightning Systems, formerly known as Lightning Hybrids, is a fast-growing, global fleet solutions company with headquarters in Loveland, Colo. A variety of new Lightning Systems’ efficiency and emissions improvement innovations, including a fleet-tracking analytics system called LightningAnalytics, are being introduced in 2018 and 2019 to support commercial and government fleets.
