Vinli to Link Connected Car and Home in One Platform
Vinli, Inc., a connected car platform, has announced what it hails as “the beginning of the end of the fragmentation between competing connected home and connected car systems.”
Here’s what’s special: Vinli Home Connect brings compatible connected home platforms together into one interface with the connected car.
When the Vinli onboard device and platform is used with leading connected home products from companies including Icontrol Networks, Nest, and Samsung’s SmartThings, the new Vinli Home Connect app integrates comprehensive automation control into a single interface.
Temperature, lighting, security, and more can all be managed or monitored using one app, across platforms and manufacturers.
The car-home connection means that home automation settings can be based not only on the presence of the user in the home, or on the clock, but on where the user’s car is located. All of this is powered by Vinli’s always-on 4G / LTE-powered connected car.
“We’re seeing this rapid growth of integrations being developed for the connected home and car markets, but this is creating a fragmentation problem and frustration for the consumer,” says Mark Haidar, founder and CEO of Vinli. “Our team has created an elegant, easy-to-use solution for connected homes in the US and abroad, so consumers can seamlessly manage their network of connected home products and connected vehicles, all from a single source.”
“As smart home and connected car capabilities become more prevalent and affordable, we are excited to be working with Vinli to deliver a solution that bridges the gap between the two,” says Jeff Hagins, CTO and co-founder at SmartThings. “With this integration, the power of our platforms – SmartThings for the home and Vinli for the car – are coming together to offer consumers a first-of-its-kind home automation experience.”
With Home Connect, actions are prompted when a vehicle in your family network crosses a specified boundary, such as your driveway or subdivision.
When you get close to home, the house begins to wake up: the temperature adjusts, the lights turn on, and the shades open. Your home system doesn’t wait for you to get home, or simply react to the clock. It prepares for your arrival and acts accordingly, whether you get home at the usual time or you’re running late.
As an advanced connected car device and cloud platform, Vinli brings 4G LTE / WiFi to virtually any car on the road today, along with a universal market of apps delivering smart capabilities previously only seen in newer cars.
