Electric Vehicle Charging Expands in DC, Maryland and Virginia
NRG eVgo, a subsidiary of NRG Energy, Inc. (NYSE:NRG), has announced that it now has 24 fast electric vehicle (EV) chargers in the Washington DC, Maryland and northern Virginia area with a 25th expected to be operational by the end of the month.
These fast chargers are potential game-changers as they permit drivers to charge their vehicles quickly while they enjoy nearby retail establishments and restaurants.
Stated Michael Krauthamer, Director of NRG eVgo’s Mid-Atlantic Region, “eVgo’s Freedom Station® sites, which combine DC fast charging with Level 2 charging, are the backbone of our reliable and convenient network designed to give drivers range confidence and make driving an EV easier than ever.”
The Mid-Atlantic network features a variety of charging solutions for EV drivers, including powerful fast chargers that can charge an EV to 80% capacity in a half hour, providing approximately 40 miles of range in just 15 minutes.
Twenty of the fast chargers are complemented by Level 2 chargers that can charge EVs from all manufacturers, providing multiple charging solutions for all EV drivers.
