Electric Drive Congress Kicks Off on Feb. 10 in DC

The Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA) has announced the list of speakers for the 2015 Electric Drive Congress, set for February 10 and 11 in Washington, DC.

The event will assemble electric drive industry executives, policymakers and other stakeholders to discuss the outlook for the market and what role policymakers can play in accelerating the electric fleet.

The program’s kickoff event, an open briefing in the U.S. Capitol Visitors Center, will feature presentations from top policymakers and executive branch officials, including U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley and Reuben Sarkar, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Transportation at the U.S. Department of Energy. Industry leaders will also be providing their expert insights on what is ahead for electric drive in the consumer market and policy arenas.

EDTAThe audience will hear from top executives, including: Tracy Woodard, director of government relations for Nissan and chair of EDTA’s Board of Directors; Arun Banskota, president of NRG Energy’s Electric Vehicle Services; Wayne Killen, ‎general manager of product strategy and launch at Audi of America; and Desmond Bell, senior vice president at Pacific Gas and Electric Company. A moderated Q&A will follow.

The afternoon Industry & Policy Seminar program, held at the Washington Court Hotel for registrants, will begin with keynote remarks from Joerg Sommer, the vice president for product marketing and strategy at Volkswagen. Next, industry representatives from the automotive, electric utility and infrastructure segments will explore the latest trends in electric drive technology and federal policy.

During the second half of the program, experts will discuss key state initiatives and chart the successes of electric drive deployment efforts across the U.S. T

he final day of the event will feature a Capitol Hill Lobbying Day for the members of the EDTA Board of Directors, who will be meeting directly with members of the House, Senate and Congressional staff to share the electric drive industry’s policy priorities at the start of the new legislative session.
